# Project overview

> What the project Overview page shows and how to arrange its widgets

The project **Overview** is the home page of a project workspace. It shows the project's stage, deadlines, actions, estimate figures, documents and team as a set of widgets you can arrange for yourself.

Open a project from the Projects list or the project selector. The Overview is the first page you land on.

## Header

The page header shows:

* **Back to projects**: returns you to the Projects list.
* **Project name** and a **status badge** for the project's current stage. Stralos manages the status names; they are not a company setting.
* **Client**: the client the project is being prepared for, or **Not set**.
* **Project team**: a button shown to people who can manage the project's team. It opens the project team sheet.

## Widgets

Each widget is its own card and loads on its own. If one widget can't load, it shows an error with a **Retry** button and the rest of the page is not affected.

| Widget | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Stage** | The project's current stage, with a **Change stage** link to Project settings. |
| **Next deadline** | Days until the next date that matters at the project's stage, and which date it is. |
| **Tender value** | The tender price of the project's main estimate. |
| **Project actions** | How many of the project's actions are open, and how many are overdue. |
| **Next actions** | What needs doing on the project, who is doing it and when it is due. |
| **Tender readiness** | What is done and what is left before the tender goes out, and the tender approval state. |
| **Estimate snapshot** | Cost, selling price, gross profit and margin (or markup) of the main estimate. |
| **Estimate checks** | Rate exceptions and tender submission checks still to do. |
| **Project summary** | Client, site address, office, quote number, job number, client reference and the written scope. |
| **Key dates** | The project's seven key dates. |
| **Key documents** | The documents your team uses most, with their revision. |
| **Risks and assumptions** | The tender's clauses and its provisional sums and quantities. |
| **Project team** | Who leads the project and who is on its team. |
| **Contract basis** | Contract form, overheads, contract documents and special conditions. |
| **Recent activity** | What changed on the project lately. This widget is off until you add it. |

### Next deadline

**Next deadline** counts down to the next upcoming date that still matters for the project's stage:

* While the project is a lead or being estimated: site visit, questions close, target submission and proposed start.
* Once submitted: decision expected, next follow-up and proposed start.
* Once awarded: proposed start and end.
* Once active: end.

When no upcoming date is set, the card reads **Not set** with an **Add a date** link to Project settings.

### Tender value and Estimate snapshot

Before a revision is submitted, **Tender value** shows the estimate's current price and reads **Not submitted yet**. Once a revision is submitted, it shows the price that revision went out at. If the estimate has changed since, the current draft price is shown beside it.

**Estimate snapshot** shows the estimate's current figures and names the last submitted revision. An estimate with nothing priced reads **Not priced yet** rather than \$0.

### Next actions and Project actions

**Next actions** lists the project's open actions, soonest due first, with actions that have no due date last. Each action shows its kind (**Task**, **Follow-up**, **Clarification**, **Quote**, **Review** or **Approval**), who it is for, and when it is due.

* Tick an action to mark it done. Select **Show done** to list finished actions; untick one to reopen it.
* Select **Add action**, enter what needs doing, and optionally choose the **Kind**, **Who** and **Due** date. Contractor guests can only give actions to themselves.

A link to an action from **Needs attention** on the dashboard opens it on this widget, even if you have hidden Next actions from your layout.

**Project actions** counts the same open actions, so the two widgets always agree. It counts every action on the project, not only yours.

### Estimate checks

**Estimate checks** shows:

* **Rate exceptions, as last counted**: the number of rate exceptions recorded on the estimate, or **None counted**.
* **Checks still to do**: the tender submission checks not yet done, with a link to **Open tender submission**.

### Key dates

**Key dates** lists the project's dates in the order they happen on a tender:

| Date | Where you set it |
| - | - |
| **Site visit** (date and time) | On this widget |
| **Questions close** (date and time) | On this widget |
| **Target submission** | [Project settings](https://help.stralos.app/guides/estimators/project-settings.md#dates-and-working-day) |
| **Decision expected** | On this widget |
| **Next follow-up** | On this widget |
| **Proposed start** | [Project settings](https://help.stralos.app/guides/estimators/project-settings.md#dates-and-working-day) |
| **End** | [Project settings](https://help.stralos.app/guides/estimators/project-settings.md#dates-and-working-day) |

For the four dates you set on the widget, select **Add** or **Change**, pick the date (and time), then select **Save**. Select **Remove** to clear one. Times are shown in the project's time zone, so they read the same for everyone on the project.

### Key documents

**Key documents** lists the documents your team has marked as key, grouped by type, with the revision read from each document's title block. A document whose title block has not been read shows **Rev not read yet**. Select a document to open it.

Under **Suggested**, the widget offers the newest drawing, specification, schedule of quantities and tender instructions that are not yet key, one per type. Select **Mark as key** to add one, or **Remove from key** to take a document off the list. Anyone on the project's team can change the list, and everyone sees the same one. Select **All documents** to open the project's Documents page.

### Risks and assumptions

**Risks and assumptions** reads the main estimate's tender clauses and allowances:

* **Departures and clarifications**: risks and assumptions are listed with their group. A suggested type that nobody has confirmed yet shows a **Suggested** badge. Exclusions, qualifications, departures and clauses with no type (clarifications) are counted under **Other clauses**.
* **Provisional sums and quantities**: each allowance with its amount. A provisional sum with no allowance reads **Not set**, and a provisional quantity not yet priced reads **Not priced yet**.

Each list shows up to 25 items, with a note when there are more. Links open the departures and clarifications page and the estimate schedule.

### Project team and Contract basis

**Project team** shows the project's leads and team members. Project leads and admins see everyone on the team; other people see the leads.

**Contract basis** shows the contract form, on-site overhead, off-site overhead and profit, the number of contract documents, and any special conditions. With nothing saved, it offers **Add contract details**, which opens [Contract basis](https://help.stralos.app/guides/estimators/project-settings.md#contract-basis) in Project settings.

### Recent activity

**Recent activity** lists what changed on the project, newest first: status changes, actions added and done, team changes, the latest tender submission and approval request, and the five newest uploads. It shows up to 20 rows. If part of the activity can't load, the rest still shows, with a **Retry** for the missing part.

## Chart and table views

Six widgets can show their information as a chart or as a list: **Next actions**, **Tender readiness**, **Estimate snapshot**, **Estimate checks**, **Key dates** and **Risks and assumptions**. Next actions and Risks and assumptions start as a list; the others start as a chart.

Use the view toggle in the widget's header to switch. The toggle appears only when the widget has something to chart and you are not customising the page. Your choice is saved with your layout.

## Customise your layout

1. Select **Customise**.
2. Drag a widget, or use the arrow keys, to move it. Drag its resize handle to change its size.
3. To hide a widget, open its **More actions** menu and select **Hide**.
4. Select **Add widget** and then **Add** next to a widget to put it back on the page.
5. Select **Use the default for my role** to go back to the default arrangement, or **Tidy up** to move every widget as high as it fits.
6. Select **Done** to save, or **Cancel** to discard your changes.

Your layout is your own, and it is used on every project you open.

## Manage estimates

The Overview does not list the project's estimates. When the project's **Multiple estimates** setting is on, open the **Estimates** sheet from the estimate switcher in the rail (**Manage estimates…**), from **Manage estimates** on the estimate's **Overview** tab, or from Project settings. See [Managing estimates](https://help.stralos.app/guides/estimators/projects.md#managing-estimates).

## Navigation

Use the project rail on the left to move to other areas of the project workspace.
