# Schedule review

> Check your estimate items against the takeoff, calculators, scope and contract before you price the tender

Schedule review reads your estimate items, takeoff, calculators, project scope and contract, then points out anything worth a second look: missing items, quantities that don't match, odd units or descriptions, and duplicates. Where the fix is clear, you can apply it in one click. It advises; you decide what to change.

Anyone who can open the estimate can run a review. Schedule review is for tender estimates before they are won. On a won tender, the **Schedule review** button is turned off and says why.

To check your tender against the project documents for scope gaps, pricing and clauses, use [Tender review](https://help.stralos.app/guides/estimators/tender-check.md).

## Start a review

1. Open **Estimate Builder** → **Work Items** in the estimate workspace.
2. Select **Schedule review** in the **Estimate schedule** header. The review opens in a side sheet. On a wide screen you can keep working on the schedule behind it.
3. Select **Start a review**.

Stralos looks through your project documents and picks out the ones worth checking. Then it shows **Choose the documents to review**.

## Choose the documents

The document list works as it does in Tender review: documents the estimate uses and the ones Stralos recommends start ticked, and **Select all documents** ticks or unticks every document that can be read. See [Choose the documents](https://help.stralos.app/guides/estimators/tender-check.md#choose-the-documents) for the groups and badges. Schedule review offers the takeoff drawings, the documents your estimate items came from and the contract documents.

Tick **Check build-up** if you also want Stralos to look at each item's build-up: items with none, quantities and units that don't fit the item, plant, labour or materials that don't suit the work, and calculations that are out of date with the takeoff. Rates and prices aren't checked. It starts unticked for every new review.

Select **Start review**, or **Prepare files and start review** if some documents still need reading. You can select up to 60 documents. If you select none, Stralos still checks your items against the takeoff and calculators, but it can't look for missing work in the drawings, scope or contract.

## While the review runs

Stralos shows the review's progress in four steps: reading your documents, gathering your schedule (items, measurements and calculators), checking items, quantities, units and duplicates, and checking quotes against the documents. Step 3 also says how many drawing pages Stralos is looking at.

A review usually takes 2 to 5 minutes. You can close the sheet and come back; the review carries on. If documents still need reading, select **Check now without them** to start with the ones that are ready, or **Cancel check** to stop.

Findings appear under **Found so far** as the AI writes them. They are provisional until the review finishes.

## Review the findings

A finished review shows its number, when it started and who started it, then the counts by severity and by status, and a short overview. Findings are grouped under:

* **Missing items**: work the drawings, scope or contract call for that has no estimate item.
* **Quantities**: item quantities that don't match the takeoff, a calculator or a quantity in the documents. A difference of more than 5% is flagged.
* **Units and descriptions**: units that don't suit the work, or descriptions that don't match what the source measures.
* **Duplicates and orphans**: the same work in two items, items whose source has gone, and takeoff measurements or calculators that nothing uses.
* **Build-up**: only on a review with **Check build-up** ticked. These findings are advice only: make any build-up change yourself.

Within each group, the most severe come first. The section names, the **Section**, **Severity** and **Status** filters, and the status dropdown on each card work as they do in Tender review. See [Filter the findings](https://help.stralos.app/guides/estimators/tender-check.md#filter-the-findings) and [Track findings with a status](https://help.stralos.app/guides/estimators/tender-check.md#track-findings-with-a-status).

Findings marked **Found by a built-in check** come from fixed checks on the schedule itself. Select **What we read** to see how each document was used, whether the project scope was read, and how many drawing pages Stralos looked at. A citation can open a document page, a takeoff drawing, a calculator, or the project scope in **Project settings**.

If you change the estimate after a review, the results say **Your estimate has changed since this review, so some findings may be out of date. Start a new review to see the latest.**

### Go to an item

Select a finding's title or one of its **Item** buttons to go to that item. The sheet closes, and the schedule scrolls to the item and highlights it. If the item is no longer in the schedule, Stralos says so.

When you reopen **Schedule review**, it comes back where you left it: the same review, the same filters, the same scroll position, and the finding you came from, highlighted for a moment. Moving to a different project clears this. Another estimate in the same project keeps its own place.

## Apply a fix

Many findings have an **Apply** button with a one-line summary of the fix. Select **Apply** to see exactly what will change, then confirm, or select **Keep it as is** to leave the estimate alone. A fix can:

* change an item's quantity, unit or description
* link an item's quantity to a takeoff measurement or calculator output
* add a missing item, without a price (price it afterwards)
* delete a duplicate item

Applying a fix makes the same change you could make by hand, through the same checks. Deleting a duplicate goes through the schedule's usual undo, so you can undo it straight away.

An applied finding shows **Applied** and who applied it. Its status stays at **Applied** and can't be changed.

**Apply** is turned off, with the reason, when:

* the estimate is read-only, for example once the tender has been submitted (you can still run a review and read the findings)
* the item's quantity is fixed by the client's schedule of quantities
* the item is a provisional sum

If the item, takeoff or calculator has changed since the review, Stralos refuses the fix and asks you to run the review again.

## Run another review

Select **Start a new review** to choose documents and run the review again. Earlier reviews are kept under **Previous reviews**. Select one to open its findings.

## Limits

* Up to 60 documents per review.
* One review at a time on each estimate, and at least a minute between reviews.
* Your company can run 50 reviews in any 24 hours, counting Tender reviews and Schedule reviews together.

## If a review doesn't finish

Stralos shows **This review didn't finish.** with the reason. Select **Try again** to start a new review. Anything found before it stopped stays under **Found before it stopped**; treat it as a starting point only. The messages are the same as for [Tender review](https://help.stralos.app/guides/estimators/tender-check.md#if-a-review-doesnt-finish).
